Two months in Bend

Two months in Bend, OR have flown by and we are getting ready to leave this week for our trip across country heading for New York State and HOME!
It has been a great stay here with Mike and we have experienced a lot of the Bend lifestyle that just
flying in for a week doesn't give us time to do.  We met some really terrific people, seen sights, visited tourist spots and local places, and generally lived life Oregon-style.  This is our home at Crown Villa RV Park.  A great spot to spend time!

The first weekend we were in town, our nephew's wife, Chris, and her friend, Sarah, came to Bend to run in the Bend half marathon.  It was so good to see them and enjoy their company while they were here.  We, of course, got in on the eating part of the weekend, not the running part!
A group of us went out to Mike's restaurant to celebrate and relax.

Since we were here a year go, Bend has added a water feature on the at Farewell Bend Park.  You can kayak, practice surfing, and white water rafting in the icy waters of the Deschutes River.  This is just what this very active, outdoor community needed.

We have done a lot of driving around the area to see the many beautiful sights in central Oregon.  Mike took us to Prineville Reservoir and the Ochoco Mtn.
The variety of conifers is amazing.  We have never seen so many pine trees ever!
On the way to Sisters, OR for lunch out and shopping!
This view is South Sister (left) Middle Sister and North Sister.

Another day we drove to Camp Sherman to check out the head waters of the Metolius River, which originates beneath Black Butte.

We also took a picnic lunch thirty miles north of Bend to Smith Rock.
A rock climbers haven with cliffs suddenly towering hundreds of feet above the desert floor.
Can you find the Golden Eagle's nest high on the cliff?

Driving up to Mt Bachelor on the last day of the season.

Having a picnic, grilling hotdogs in the back of Mike's pickup.
Friends just off the Mt and their last snowboard ride.
Temperature in the high sixties, over a hundred inches of snow still on the slopes.

Downtown Bend is fun and interesting place to go to look around, shop, eat, and just enjoy life.

Every month during the good weather months, Bend sponsors First Friday.  Here we are listening to
xylophones being played by one of the local elementary schools...TERRIFIC!!
A couple of cool dudes playing these interesting instruments.  So good.

Riding rental bikes along the Deschutes River that runs through the middle of Bend.
More good friends!

Driving out to Tumalo Reservoir.  North and Middle Sister in view...
